Young soprano Anne Wieben is rapidly gaining recognition for her captivating, authentic performances. Having started her career as a mezzo-soprano, she brings a burnished warmth and a soaring top register to the lyric soprano repertoire.
In the 2014/15 season, Ms. Wieben performs Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte on a tour of German concert halls, including Munich, Stuttgart, Ulm, and Berlin. Last year she sang Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos in a benefit production sponsored by Vienna Life Ball, and performed Dot Robinson in the Austrian premiere of Raymond Yiu’s chamber opera The Original Chinese Conjuror at the Vienna Musikverein. At the Teatro Barocco Fesitival in Stift Altenburg she sang the role of Dorinda in Michael Hayden’s Die Hochzeit auf der Alm. Read More

“Anne Wieben as Fiordiligi delivered flawless vocals and beautiful decrescendos.”
Peter P. Pachl, WWW.NMZ.DE, 2015
“Anne Wieben singt die Koloratur der Fiordiligi, die wirklich atemberaubend von Mozart komponiert und man kann auch sagen eine Art Unverschämtheit für die Sopranistin komponiert, ganz grandios. (Anne Wieben marvelously sang Fiordiligi's breathtakingly yet brazenly composed coloratura).”
Rainer Zerbst, DEUTSCHLANDRADIO KULTUR FRÜHKRITIK, 2014
“Anne Wieben as Donna Anna brings a hint of femme fatale with her velvety soprano... a very enjoyable, artisticly rich interpretation, the finale of the first act shows how well the voices fit together.”
SÜDDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG, 2011
“In her opera directing debut Julia Dippel and her theatrically enthusiastic singer ensemble present a clever and unhindered comedy with a dark undercurrent... Anne Wieben with a secure high register as Donna Anna... Ample, heartfelt applause.”
MÜNCHNER MERKUR, 2011
“The young singer ensemble loves and hates up-close... the scorned yet spellbound duo, Donna Elvira and Donna Anna (Anne Wieben sensual with bare shoulders, not the standard frigid ditz, loaded with vocal energy)... command the stage.”
MÜNCHNER MERKUR-WÜRMTAL, 2011
“The lead character Diana is played by the captivating Anne Wieben. It is not surprising that she not only has sung the [mezzo] roles of Nicklausse and the Composer but also the soprano roles of Fiordiligi, Contessa and Rosalinde. Her warm-sounding yet clear voice flourishes and leads the cast convincingly and with great impetus.”
DER NEUE MERKER, 2011
“Anne Wieben radiated lyric charm in the rich lead role of Diana (Anton Urspruch’s opera 'Das Unmöglichste von Allem').”
OPERNWELT, 2011
“A few singers in particular stood out : their beautiful, large and marvelously placed Wagnerian voices would be worthy of the Bayreuth stage… Anne Wieben (who played the Mother of the Schmied von Marienburg)… is a name to be noted.”
RUCH MUZYCZNE, 2008
